Opposing MTR

Mountain Top Removal form of surface mining that involves the mining of the summit, or the ridge of a mountain. Coal seams are extracted from a mountain by removing the land, or overburden, above the seams, most mountains are blasted.

All of the overburden from a mountain after it has been blasted ends up in a valley and causes dust to go into the air and can effect the health of the people living around the mine.the community is located to this surface mine, which means they are very badly effect by the mine because of the air and the blasting. Some People say they can feel the blasting, which isn’t good. Mountain top removal also causes a lot health risks for the community. Mountain top removal also leaves unreclaimed land which takes away from the states natural beauty.
