Group Procedure


1.       Get into a group of three

2.       Make sure you have all of your materials, (clinometers, and tree book)

3.       Measure off a 100 meter transect

4.       Pick about 3 trees in the transect

5.       Measure the top angle and the bottom angle using your clinometer, record calculations

6.       Figure out what type of tree it is by looking at the leave and looking it up in the book

7.       Calculate the dimensions of the tree, and figure how many board net feet can be made out of the tree.

8.       Make a graph showing the different tree values from all classes.

9.       Use ArcGis to measure the whole HHS forest, and see how much the HHS forest is worth.

10.   Make a power point to share information with the class
